Farmer’s Notes
*Lots of butternut squash this week – most with small flaws. You can bake these and freeze the flesh in ziploc bags for later use in soups or pies.
*Popcorn pops well with a little vegetable oil over medium to high heat – we have a tutorial on Facebook here. Also you can shell it and put it in a brown bag and into the microwave
*Rutabaga can be boiled with potatoes for a creamy mashed dish
*Turnips can be sauteed, roasted or sliced onto a salad. Also a delight in soup!
*Make a slaw with cabbage, napa, and shaved carrots
*This is the end of the kale – it is pretty limp but beautifully green, maybe best used sauteed with eggs or used in a soup
