Farmer notes:
- Yes, it is a Flex Share week
- we have received some fairly decent rainfall over the past month
- the sweet corn mostly is only 1/2 ears this week(but very tasty) – the cobs just did not fill out due to our lack of rainfall mid May- mid Aug.
- melons have a crisp white flesh with a medium sweetness
- apples can be eaten straight away or used in a salad or dessert
- if some slicing tomatoes need more ripening, just let them sit on the countertop for a few days
- cucumbers and summer squash are beginning to let up
- basil is beautiful and pairs nicely with tomatoes, peppers and squash
- sweet onions are almost non-existent due to the drought – we will give some small ones soon
- we hope that you all are having a great summer and can get some vacation in before the new school year begins
- please continue to return our ice packs and boxes, and always wash the produce
