Farmer notes:
- Not a Flex Share week
- It is a HOT day today – please pick up your box as soon as you can
- Greens and brassicas should be freshened in cold water to rehydrate asap
- In the past week we have received ¾ inch of rain on 2 occasions – so happy!!
- Did you know that nearly 40% of produce grown in the US never makes it to the dinner plate
- Radicchio is a slightly bitter green – make it in a salad with a honey mustard or grill it with a portion of meat
- Summer lettuce varieties begin next week
- Our ‘spring’ brassicas have not liked the lack of rain
- We have 3 different varieties of cauliflower – one variety Song looks like it is bolting into smaller florets
- Tons of cucumbers, squash and zucchini right now – make zucchini bread, char a bunch of squash on the grill, make some refrigerator pickles
- Peppers should be in full swing next week… with mini tomatoes, sweet corn, sugar snap peas and Korean melon knocking at the door
- Keep returning our boxes, ice packs, and egg cartons for reuse
- Enjoy, be safe and stay cool
