Farmer notes:
This is NOT a Flex share week
***Our fields never get a chance to dry out with rain coming several times each week. Many crops are showing signs of distress, like the broccoli this week. It seems inevitable that we will have some crop failure at some level. Minor flooding has caused us to replant 20% of our tomatoes. We have been managing to plant whenever possible. More rain comes tomorrow into Friday. We need some dry weather with some heat for our summer crops.
- we have several types of cauliflower including a green stem, sprouting one that has elongated sprouts
- you will notice some small bites from flea beetles on the outer leaves of the bok choy – we cover the crop with row cover immediately after transplanting and still some flea beetles manage to get in. Very edible and tasty for sure, just possibly a bit unsightly.
- cilantro can be used to flavor so many salads and hot dishes
- asparagus and scapes are now done for their season
- please return our ice packs and boxes each week
- enjoy the 4th everyone and be safe
