Earth Dance Farm

2024 Summer CSA Box #1

June 20, 2024 by Earth Dance Farm

“So many things I would have done, but clouds got in my way.”
~Joni Mitchell

Crop list:

  • asparagus
  • rhubarb
  • kale
  • romaine lettuce
  • garlic scapes
  • Napa cabbage
  • radishes
  • oregano
  • popcorn – full shares only

Farmer notes:

  • Bi-weekly Flex Shares begin next week, June 27th
  • Thank you so much for joining us for our 2024 Summer produce season! Crops are looking great and we have a wonderful team of young interns, so we are looking forward to a fantastic year on the farm!
  • As my quote highlights, it has been a struggle to find days this spring when the fields are dry enough to work and to plant into. We will take this over last year’s drought though… at least thus far.
  • Asparagus is a Spring favorite for many: it is great grilled, sauteed with butter, mixed with pasta or eggs, or used raw in a salad
  • Garlic scapes are the flowering parts of hard-necked garlic. They are a fun and whimsical crop with a mild garlic flavor.
  • Oregano pesto is incredible and should be made and tried by all. Or just use it cut up to flavor most any hot dish, or let it dry for later use.
  • Kale is best massaged and dressed with oil, balsamic and coconut aminos – or sauteed or raw in a salad.
  • Napa is wonderful as a wrap, mixed into pasta or fried rice, or broken up into a cold salad
  • The popcorn in the full shares need to be shelled from the cob before popping (video is on Facebook)
  • Rhubarb for a crisp/crumble, a jam, or just as a sauce.
  • Please wash all of your produce and return our boxes and ice packs for reuse
  • Happy 1st day of summer everyone!
