It is never us and them, it is always we … together.

It all started with friendly banter between my husband and me that concluded with the always popular…
“No you won’t.”
“Yes, I will.”
“NO, you won’t.”
“YES, I will.”
The topic of the debate was whether I would consistently use everything that came in a full-share CSA box. Naturally, my husband’s skepticism fueled my determination to do just that, and now I’m on a mission to emerge the winner of the debate.
My strategy of success begins every Thursday afternoon when the box of goodness arrives, and it involves several key players: a lettuce spinner, plastic bags, plastic containers, and cloth napkins. I spend about 30 minutes cleaning and spinning everything that can be cleaned and spun, which, early in the season, is most of the contents of the box. Each item is then trimmed up and placed in its own bag or container that is lined with a cloth napkin to absorb excess moisture and keep things nice and fresh in the fridge for the week.
By doing this critical prepping step, I am able to crack out a meal in short order just like the stars on the Food Network channel except I get paid less – a lot less – but that’s okay because I’m definitely on track to win the debate with my husband, and that’s priceless.
