Farmer Notes
*Popcorn is best shelled and popped in a pan with hot oil, in a paper bag in the microwave for 3 minutes, or with an air popper
*The dry beans are pinto or great northern and need to be shelled and soaked before cooking for salads, soups or just seasoned by themselves
*Rutabaga can be boiled with potatoes and mashed together or used to make a root vegetable gratin
*Daikon radishes are crispy and sweet and can be eaten raw or cooked, you can also get creative and lacto ferment them for boosted gut health!
*Thyme and garlic are good with all of these vegetables roasted
*Make sure to peel the kohlrabi to remove the skin and green outer layer before enjoying the crisp sweetness beneath
*The daikon and napa should make a tasty salad with shaved carrots
*I roasted one of our meat chickens yesterday with carrots, garlic, onions, potatoes and rosemary – yum
*The cabbage is great for slaw, or fried with a bit of salt, pepper and butter
*Make sure to return our boxes each week for us to reuse
*Stay safe and warm out there
